Centronic Limited is now recruiting for the following roles required to deliver a multi-million pound contract for manufacture of equipment for UK nuclear power generation. This is a long term contract and delivery will continue for a minimum of five years. Experience of working in the nuclear industry will be an advantage but is not essential as training will be provided.

Contract Manager

A Contract Manager is required who will also act as the commercial and programme interface with the customer and the end-user. The Contract Manager will work closely with the Departmental Managers within Centronic to prioritise resource and deliver the contract requirements to schedule and to cost budgets.

As the primary point of contact with the customer, the Contract Manager must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in addition to qualifications/experience in major contract management. Regular internal meetings, conference calls and external meetings are likely to be the norm for this contract, therefore ability to travel to attend meetings at the customers and end-users premises is essential. The customer is managing the programme using Microsoft Project, a good understanding of this planning tool is therefore required and a background in manufacturing engineering will be an advantage.

Test Engineer

A Test Engineer is required to support the activities of this contract. The equipment to be manufactured requires both electrical and nucleonic (i.e. using sources of radiation) testing. The electrical tests include insulation resistance measurements (using high voltage supplies and picoammeters) and capacitance measurements. The nucleonic tests are performed either in-house, using Centronic gamma and neutron sources, or at external facilities. In addition to supporting this contract, this position will also support the routine activities of this manufacturing department.

Suitable applicants are likely to have qualifications in an engineering discipline and experience in a role incorporating electrical test. In order to support the off-site testing activities applicants must be willing and able to travel within the UK and able to work, on occasion, longer days and/or make overnight stays in order to accommodate the travelling time.

Assembly Technician

An Assembly Technician is required to work in the department manufacturing this equipment. In addition to supporting this project the technician will contribute to the routine activities of the department. Knowledge and experience of precision mechanical assembly is required, while experience in electro-mechanical assembly would be advantageous. The quality standards for manufacture are high so experience working in such an environment (e.g. aerospace or defence) would be beneficial. The ability to work diligently to assembly drawings and procedures is essential, completing all manufacturing documentation as is necessary.

Assembly/Welding Technician

A further Assembly Technician is required with skills as above but also with experience of TIG welding of mechanical assemblies. This role will support the Centronic Welding Technician in carrying out production welding and will also support the assembly activities. A formal qualification in welding (such as a certificate in welding and fabrication practice) is preferred.

Quality Control Inspector

A Quality Control Inspector is required to inspect machined components, purchased items and WIP to the requirements of manufacturing drawings and specifications. The Quality Control Inspector will work with the Centronic Quality Manager and Quality Engineer with regard to assessment and surveillance of suppliers, also interfacing with the manufacturing, purchasing and engineering departments to ensure that the quality expectations of the Centronic Quality Management System and the customer are achieved. Good communication and inter-personal skills are required. A qualification in mechanical engineering would be beneficial and experience in a quality control position would also be advantageous.
