In March 2006 Centronic Limited completed a two day review with British Standards Institute covering the RoHS Directive. The two day programme was part of BSI's Pre Assessment RoHS Trusted Service (PARTS) Module which consisted of awareness training and a review of our products. From this assessment the following information has been put together to assist customers in determining Centronic product status.
The European Union's directive 2002/95/EC on the "Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive" (RoHS) was published on 13th February 2003. It controls the use of specified hazardous substances in electronic and electrical equipment sold in Europe from 1st July 2006. The materials specified are lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and certain flame retardants use in plastics: polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).
Centronic Limited is committed to complying with the RoHS directive as a minimum standard within its ISO 14001 environmental policy.
The following statements define the status of each product group.
Electro-Optic Products:
These components have been checked against our RoHS Database and all are compliant with the Regulation. This compliance status is based on, to the best of our knowledge that the product comes under Article 4, Part 2, Category 5 exemptions for lead in glass of cathode ray tubes, electronic components and fluorescent tubes.
Radiation Detectors, Geiger M ller Tubes, UV Light Measurement, Vision Engineering and Radiation Tolerant Products:
These components are designed to be used in electrical and electronic equipment that falls outside of the scope of the RoHS Directive.
