The Centronic Apprentice Scheme
University isn’t for everyone and here at Centronic we have a fantastic alternative. Apprenticeships at Centronic are all about picking up new skills and lots of them. It's 1 or 2 years of relevant training and lots of exposure to manufacturing and engineering. If you’ve decided to dive straight into the world of work after school or college we believe our apprenticeship is a professional and worthwhile experience.
We offer Apprenticeships in Engineering and Manufacturing and with a variety of different roles available we should have something to suit you.
And that's not all - when you join Centronic as an apprentice it is not just about training and qualifications. We have your long-term professional career in mind.
What makes the scheme so great?
At the end of your apprenticeship, and depending on the role, you will have gained either an NVQ Level 2 in Performing Manufacturing or Engineering Operations via IPS, or a BTEC Level 3 Diploma with a College. Qualifications are assessed either on the job or on day release.
You’ll be part of a great manufacturing company with a great history.
You’ll learn from experienced highly qualified engineers and technicians – people who’ve pushed technology to its limits and used it to do some amazing things.
You’ll be supporting some great clients, too – big names you almost certainly will have heard of.
What we offer
While you are working towards completing your Apprenticeship you will earn a salary of £10,725 per annum, and you’ll also get a good range of benefits too, including 25 days holiday as standard plus bank holidays, life insurance and a Company pension.
You will work 37.5 hours per week over 4.5 days from Monday to Friday.
At the end of your Apprenticeship, we expect that you will be able to continue with us either in an advanced Apprenticeship or in a permanent role.
Support & Training
You’ll have a Manager or Supervisor who’ll help you with new tasks, manage your workload and give you the opportunity to get involved with new projects. They’ll also sit down with you to develop a plan for each year that sets you objectives and includes all the training you’ll need.
You’ll also have a Mentor. They will help you learn, and you can talk to them about absolutely anything: they are there to support you in any way they can.
During the year you'll have regular reviews with both your Supervisor/Manager and your Mentor to assess how you’re doing.
You will meet up with your fellow apprentices, the HR Manager and the Head of Manufacturing on a monthly basis to talk about your progress and share ideas.
This starts with a full induction to help you understand how Centronic works and how we operate. You’ll be in good company, observing key areas of the business, and taking part in valuable team building exercises with other apprentices - so this is a great chance to get to know each other.
After that, it’s all about business, technical and personal skills training; anything which helps you get better at doing your job, help you with your career progression in Centronic and potentially attain further professional qualifications.
What we look for
To be eligible to apply, you must have at least 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above including Maths and English. You must also be authorised to work in the UK.
