New Model Ionisation Chambers

The range of ionisation chambers offered by Centronic for use as isotope monitors has been extended by the introduction of the IG47. In addition to the IG11, IG12 and IG46 ionisation chambers, which have 25.4mm, 50.7mm and 60.2mm re-entrant tubes, there has been increased interest in ionisation chambers that have an annular hole fully through the centre. The IG47 is such a device and compliments the IG42 which is of similar design. While the IG42 (71mm hole) is of an aluminium construction, the IG47 is smaller in size (42mm hole) and is constructed in stainless steel.

In addition, Centronic can now offer in it’s standard form, the IG48 for use in area monitoring.

This chamber is a lightweight gamma ion chamber constructed from polyethylene and as standard is fitted with two cross-linked polystyrene insulated HN connectors, one for the supply of the polarising voltage and one for measurement of the dc output signal. Graphite coating of the polyethylene forms the electrodes and the assembly is of a guard ring construction with uncoated areas of polyethylene acting as the inner-electrode insulation material. The chamber is vented to the ambient atmospheric conditions therefore air density correction is required for accurate measurement of dose rate. Please contact us for more information on any of the Centronic products.
