Accreditation to BS EN ISO 14001
Centronic is pleased to announce accreditation to BS EN ISO 14001, the international standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
On July 31st 2003, after an 8-month implementation period and 6 days of auditing by British Standards Institute (BSI), Centronic limited achieved the coveted status of accreditation to BS EN ISO 14001.
Accreditation to the Environmental Management Standard was achieved through a complete review of all site processes, activities and services and analysing the potential environmental impact. The EMS implementation exercise also identified major savings in terms of controlling processes and looking at external services.
The EMS process is a win-win situation for Centronic and the environment. We have looked at environmental issues both as a benefit to society and a benefit to Centronic. During the next few years the work we have done now in identifying key issues will start to pay dividends. The continuous improvement programme will also ensure that the latest technologies will play a part in how the business will be affected in the future.
As part of ISO 14001 requirements, Centronic has been raising the awareness of environmental issues throughout the company and has established a number of environmental policies and procedures.
ISO 14001 also requires companies to identify their environmental impacts and continually improve their performance within set objectives. Within Centronic these areas include waste management, recycling, and energy consumption.
Most significantly, it commits the business to meeting a series of continuous improvements and ultimately impacting on the environment we live in.
